Mission

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Programs and Services

  • The Salvation Army - Washington Worship and Service Center strives to help families and individuals develop healthy lifestyles emotionally, mentally & physically. Programs encourage working together in healthy activities & conversations.
  • Love in a Backpack provides supplemental food on the weekends for children from 10 local schools/600 children during the school.
  • Best Foot Forward provided over 900 children new shoes in 2023.
  • For the last seven years, 1,500 children K-12 have participated in free cooking classes.
  • HISPins is a youth archery program that helps youth focus and work on basic skills.
  • Each year over 10,000 brand new books are distributed to the community.
  • The Salvation Army - Mon Valley Worship and Service Center located in Donora focuses on developing programs that will bring families together, while building strong healthy relationships that include enjoying meals together, watching movies, playing games, and creating art projects; programming that engages the entire family in healthy activities and teaches skills to last a lifetime.
