To end domestic violence by empowering survivors, raising awareness, and creating safer communities.
Programs and Services
- Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania provides free and confidential services in Washington, Greene, and Fayette counties. Those services include:
- Prevention & outreach programs in schools and in the community to change attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors in order to prevent domestic violence from happening in the first place.
- A 24/7 helpline that is available 365 days a year. This service is not just for emergency situations, but also for education, advocacy, and referrals. The helpline is open to survivors, friends and family members of survivors, and professionals working with survivors. The helpline can also be reached toll-free by dialing 800-791-4000.
- Mobile advocacy & empowerment is provided by a DVSSP domestic violence advocate over the phone, in a virtual setting, or in person. These individual sessions are tailored to the needs and goals of the survivor. To schedule a session, please call 724-288-2855.
- Therapy services are provided by a licensed professional counselor over the phone, in a virtual setting, or in person. Individual sessions are tailored to the needs and goals of the survivor. Virtual group therapy is offered weekly through a virtual therapy software platform. Group therapy covers topics designed for personal growth, healing, and support after trauma.
- Housing advocates provide housing assistance to those experiencing homelessness or potential homelessness due to domestic violence. Case management includes completion of Coordinated Entry assessments, housing advocacy, and relocation support. - The legal advocacy department provides assistance with filing a Protection From Abuse order (PFA) and accompaniment to hearings. To speak with a legal advocate, please call 724-223-8349 in Washington County, 724-852-2463 in Greene County, and 724-562-7016 in Fayette County.
- Emergency safe houses provide a safe place for those experiencing homelessness due to domestic violence. Primary Revenue Sources
DVSSP's primary revenue sources are made up of federal, state, and local grants with the primary funding coming from the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Pennsylvania Commission on Crime & Delinquency.
